MARSHMALLOW TEST - SUCCESS PREDICTOR?

 Do you really feel that you can analyze the amount of success you can achieve? Well.... There happened a test earlier which was aimed at estimating the success rate of children in future.

Harvard University conducted a study which aimed to estimate this same thing.

Marshmallow Test - Harvard University conducted an experiment, where they brought in a batch of children and asked them about how many of them want to eat marshmallows. Everyone said Yes. Later on, they said, if you guys wait for a few hours, until we return, you all will get extra marshmallow.

The results were as expected, majority of the subjects ate marshmallows instantly, where as some of them waited and got double the amount they were to be given initially. But the study didn't end here. The study began from this point onwards. What the researchers did, was to follow up those children decade by decade and the results were astonishing. The found out that, those who took marshmallow at that instant, had the tendency to rush into things; this made them less successful than those who waited for double the reward.

Now you may ask what is this study all about then? How can something decide the success of a person?

The answer is very simple. The marshmallow is an object or temptation. Those who instantly fell for it, and grabbed it, were those who wanted INSTANT GRATIFICATION. Where as those who waited for the time to get double the amount, were those who were successful in every aspect of life including job, family, relationships, and many more. The main thing to learn from this experiment is as Humans, we tend to fall for things without thinking its further consequences. The difference between humans and animals is the power to imagine and think. We humans think a lot. It's not the overthinking that kills the person; if a person overthinks he is analysing situations from every poit of view and thinking out the best possible way to tackle a situation. The fear that is associated with it is what drives a person forward in life. Those who learn to control their senses and desire become successful in life. Everything that comes to your life doesn't mean it should be consumed at that instant; instead, wait, let it mature, and then enjoy the fruit of your patience. People who are patient in life and work without any expectations (expectations as in the result/outcome) are those who have the power to change the world.

Having expectations is not bad, but overly depending on them and then creating a fuss is something that can create a huge imbalance. Psychologically, those who know what to do and when to do and in what quantity are the real leaders. I'm not saying that you should not do, but i'm saying is if everything done in moderation is always fruitful. Work hard for your goal, there should be no moderation in that aspect, but if you are a victim of your own senses and don't know when to control them, you are carried away so far that by the time you realise where you are, its too late.

I know not everyone in this world is perfect, and not everyone can control their emotions (like me as I generally tend to get carried away in emotions) but still, working for it and not being a victim is the best a person can do. That doesn't mean you should not cry, or should not feel any emotions; but instead, let those emotions flow and never stay in that same zone, or else the trap is so huge, that coming out of it is something very difficult. Try to control those emotions, make them flow how you want, channelize your internal energy and make something worthwhile for your living. Never expect anything from anyone, because expectations kill you. If you really want to expect, expect something positive from yourself, make a promise to yourself that you will be better person that you were yesterday. Let us strive forward to be a better person; let's help each other; you, me and all of us can do this if we learn to control our emotions and senses....

{Sometimes you may feel this very close to you or you can relate this, because I have gone through many situations like these. So my personal feelings may have been imbibed in this blog. None the less hope you respect the feelings and learn from this as I Am also a student and learning something from the instances that happen; waiting and creating moment is what I believe and if you do too, drop a comment and share this}
